Michael Cratt is Chief Executive Officer of Av-Comm Space & Defence and a Board Member of the Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA). He is a strong advocate for strengthening Australia’s sovereign space capability and ensuring the sector is recognised for its critical role in national security, economic productivity, and essential services.
As a SIAA Board Member, Michael champions practical, outcomes-focused initiatives that build industry capability and workforce pathways, including vocational entry programs, industry internships, and an Australia-first capability and procurement approach that empowers local SMEs.
Michael joined Av-Comm in 2005 and progressed from Project Technician to CEO, gaining extensive experience across project delivery, systems engineering, and business development. Under his leadership, Av-Comm continues to deliver world-class satellite communications and RF ground station solutions to Space and Defence customers globally.
The Space Industry of Australia (SIAA)
The Space Industry of Australia is the national peak body for the space industry in Australia,
representing more than 600 members. Formed in 1992, SIAA hosted the 2017 International Astronautical
Congress in Adelaide which led to the establishment of the Australian Space Agency in 2018. SIAA and
its member companies work closely with Australian governments, international partners, academia, and
industry to advance Australia’s space industry and economy.
