The Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA), in partnership with the South Australian Space Industry Centre (SASIC), is offering up to five eligible South Australian space start-ups the opportunity to receive a complimentary one-year SIAA membership. 

 

The initiative is designed to support emerging South Australian space companies by connecting them with SIAA’s national industry network and providing access to industry events, policy engagement, sector insights and broader ecosystem-building activities.

Membership will commence from the date of each successful applicant’s first onboarding meeting with the SIAA membership team.

Eligibility Criteria 

 

Applications will first be assessed against the minimum eligibility. Only applicants that meet all requirements will progress to the merit assessment stage. 
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria. 
  • Entity type: The applicant must be a start-up or small-to-medium enterprise with fewer than 30 full-time-equivalent employees. 
  • Space-related activity: The applicant must operate within, or directly support, the space sector. This may include upstream or downstream activities, as well as space-enabled products, services or applications. 
  • South Australian presence and economic impact: The applicant must have an established presence or active operations in South Australia. 
Where an applicant operates across multiple locations, South Australia must be the principal location relevant to this opportunity. Applicants must demonstrate that their main operations, project activities or primary economic impact are connected to South Australia. 

 

Ability to participate 

 

The applicant must be willing and able to: 
  • accept a one-year SIAA membership 
  • participate in relevant SIAA activities 
  • provide basic annual reporting on its engagement and outcomes. 
  • must not currently be a SIAA member or have held SIAA membership within the two years prior to the application closing date 
 Where eligibility is unclear, SIAA may seek further information from the applicant before making a final decision.

Assessment Process

Eligible applications will be assessed on their merits based on the information provided in their application. 
Applications will be considered against the published assessment criteria, including each applicant organisation’s: 
  • alignment with the South Australian and Australian space sectors 
  • potential to benefit from SIAA membership 
  • ability to contribute to the broader space industry community 
  • growth potential and organisational capability 
Applicants should provide clear and relevant information that demonstrates how their organisation meets the assessment criteria. 

Notification of Outcome

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in writing by the 4th of September, 2026. 
Successful applicants will receive confirmation of their selection, along with information about the next steps and SIAA membership onboarding process.
