Katherine Bennell-Pegg is an Australian astronaut and aerospace engineer, recognised as Australian of the Year 2026 for her leadership in advancing Australia’s space capability. In 2023, while at the Australian Space Agency, she was selected by the European Space Agency to undertake astronaut training in Germany, becoming the first astronaut trained under the Australian flag.
