The Economist Space Summit 2020 (Sydney)
When the startling, unfathomable images of the black hole at the heart of Messier 87 captured imaginations around the world in April 2019, it showed that the far reaches of the universe continue to fascinate. At the same time, the practical and commercial opportunities in space are a lot closer to home than we think. As space infrastructure becomes cheaper and more accessible, low Earth orbit is getting crowded. A growing number of start-ups and businesses want a piece of sky, highlighting a generational shift in today’s space race.
The Space Summit will pick up the global conversation from last year’s event in New York and bring it to Australia. It will convene leading players from the private sector, government, civil society and academia to discuss the next steps for the space economy.
