Exploring New Horizons with NASAs Alice Bowman (Sydney)

November 5 - 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us on the 5th November for a Public Address

Supported by the NSW Government Boosting Business Innovation Program, UNSW is delighted to host Alice Bowman, the first female Operations Manager within the Applied Physics Laboratory at John Hopkins University. Alice has been a pioneer of the space industry through her significant role in the New Horizons Mission – as the Mission Operations Manager for the first spacecraft to visit the dwarf planet Pluto!

Currently managing 5 in-flight spacecraft (2 deep space and 3 earth orbiters) and 1 in development, Alice Bowman has stepped away from the controls to visit Australia this November.

We are inviting all space enthusiasts to attend a public address featuring Alice Bowman and other representatives driving our space ecosystem forward on Tuesday, 5th November on campus at UNSW Sydney.

The Public Address will feature the following speakers:

  • Alice Bowman, Mission Operations Manager for the New Horizons mission to Pluto
  • Kim Curtain, Deputy Secretary, Trade, Tourism, Investment and Precincts, NSW Government
  • Professor Mark Hoffman, Dean of Engineering, UNSW
  • Michael Burden, Head of Innovation, St Clares Catholic College, Waverley

Don’t miss this UNSW first, secure your spot to attend. For any additional enquiries, please contact hayley.wilson@unsw.edu.au
