September 29 - 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Traceability & Big Data Partnership presents to Joao Ribau & Bruno Ferreira from ISQ, speaking about driving earth observation with IA

The Traceability & Big Data Thematic Partnership presents, as part of its cyle of webinars, to Joao Ribau and Bruno Ferreira from ISQ (Portugal). They present most recent trends and their projects on driving earth observation through the use of IA.

Speakers bio:

João Ribau

João Ribau is the Head of Intelligent & Digital Systems R&D Unit of ISQ – Portugal.

He has a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lisbon University, with focus on optimization and decision techniques.

He is responsible for coordinating research in several European and National programmes (H2020, ESA, Life, P2020, ..), with focus on artificial intelligence, IoT, Industry 4.0.

Some of the latest projects involved:

InteliCROP – Space assets & artificial intelligence for enhanced crop management (ESA SMALL ARTES),

SAGRESSMART – Smart Support for Geological Prospection at Seabed based in Space Assets (ESA DEMO),

Bruno Ferreira

Bruno Ferreira is a Researcher at ISQ, Intelligent & Digital Systems R&D Unit.

He is a Ph.D. student in Engineering and Industrial Management at Universidade Lusíada, and he holds a BEng and MSc Degrees in Electronics and Informatics Engineering.

Currently he is responsible for research on Artificial Intelligence techniques applied to Earth Observation data. Namely, on the technical development and implementation of machine learning models applied to satellite data, EO sources and data analysis, and development of risk factors and favourability maps supported by EO data. Some of the latest projects involved:

InteliCROP – Space assets & artificial intelligence for enhanced crop management (ESA SMALL ARTES),

SAGRESSMART – Smart Support for Geological Prospection at Seabed based in Space Assets (ESA DEMO),

SAGRES – Space Assets for Geological pRospection at Seabed (ESA SMALL ARTES)

+ATLANTIC – Space Assets for Geological prospection at Seabed, an EO-based services for the marine mining business (CMU-Portugal)
